  7. NDP Pascal-486 implements the ANSI/IEEE standard 770X3.97-1983, a superset of
  8. Wirth's Pascal. It incorporates the advanced features and code generation
  9. technologies of NDP Pascal-386, including several extensions from Berkeley 4.2
  10. BSD Pascal and the British Standards Institute (BSI) Level 0, a preprocessor,
  11. separate compilation of modules, and interfaces to the Microway C library. NDP
  12. Pascal-486 also includes several optimizations designed to take advantage of
  13. the capabilities of the 80486
  14.  
  15. NDP Pascal-486 generates globally optimized, 32-bit, mainframe quality code
  16. that urns in protected mode under UNIX 386 V.3, OS/2, Windows NT, and extended
  17. DOS. The DOS version includes a Microway linker, librarian, and protected mode
  18. loader, and a library of 70 device-independent graphics, keyboard, and sound
  19. routines. The compiler addresses 4 GB of memory while supporting the Intel,
  20. Weitek, and Cyrix numeric coprocessors

  22. NDP Pascal-486 includes a ``scheduler/code generator'' that aligns code and
  23. data on 16 byte boundaries, detects and minimizes prefetch buffer starving, and
  24. uses new code sequences that run faster on the 80486 than the 80386. Code can
  25. be interfaced with assembly language and all four NDP-486 compilers.
